Sock Creatures

Meet the big brother monkey. Soon, my sister will be having another little boy (she's due June 10th, but it's doubtful she'll make it that long. Little boy wants OUT). Her firstborn is already starting to be jealous with an edge of excited about the whole thing (he's six, now, and crazy grown up). Carries around toys like they're babies, and spends some time trying to convince his mother that his little brother needs to be named Starscream. I love that little guy.

Tomorrow is the baby shower for the Corgi (originally, sister was planning on naming him Corgan, but that has since changed. I'm still calling him my little Corgi, though), so I wanted to make not only some stuff for him, but for the firstborn, Jeffrey. I thought that it would be perfect to make him a big brother monkey--a big sock monkey he can hug and carry around. It has a big heart, just like Jeffrey does. Corgi is going to get a smaller one, along with some other animals good for squeezing. There'll be another post later with those.

I've tested him. He's very huggable. I'm nearly tempted to keep him, and definitely planning on making one for myself very soon. He's adorable, and squeezable, and amazingly easy to make. I used a classic tutorial from a .pdf that I'd be happy to share if anyone were to want to make their own. All you need is a couple socks, stuff to stuff with, thread, and a little time. Very easy.

And he just looks so friggin' happy!
